Country is facing water shortage. In this regard, drip/sprinkler system is to be initiate in the country by President. In compliance to the directive, this project has been prepared to conserve water and enhance productivity in the country.

The objective of the project is to increase agricultural production by utilizing available irrigation water more efficiently through installation of High Efficiency Irrigation Systems (HEIS) both in barani and canal command areas.

The main objectives of the project are as follows:

Saving of water.
Increase of crop yields and improvement of quality.
Saving of fertilizers and chemicals.
Increase of cropping intensity.
Expansion of irrigated area and cultivation of difficult lands.
Production of high value crops for export.
Increasing farmers’ income and employment generation.
Strengthening of the private sector.
